People like that don’t die!

As the whole world knows, this past summer has been the summer of the death a tonnes of big celebrities (may they all rest in peace).  And, as the numbers get higher, the more likely it is that these people who died I have known about for a while.  And while it’s been sad and what not, nothing has shocked me more than when Avenged Sevenfold’s drummer The Rev (Jimmy Sullivan) died.

I haven’t listened to them in a long while as they sort of fell short of what I liked, expected, and grew into.  But I spent my preteen angsty years listening to them. Just like I spend my childhood (6-9ish) listening to the Backstreet Boys.  When I outgrew these bands they simply fell to the wayside in my mind and forever that was how they would be.

This destroyed my reality.  Past celebrities do not die. This is exactly how I felt when Billy Mays died.  Who makes a big deal about the death of OxyClean spokeman?! Our generation.

This also dates me, people I grew up listening too from my generation have died.  I am old enough to witness my generations celebrites die.

In short: this is like a Backstreet Boy dying, no one cares anymore about them, but there are childhood fondness that will bubble up if one croaks.

As for Brittany Murphy, may she RIP. Drop Dead Gorgeous and Clueless would have been nothing without you.

On a side note: when I spawn children they are not getting raised by the TV so that they get attached to such things.
